The machine cuts individual yarns into short lengths and bends them into U-shaped tufts which are pressed at the bend to a backing that is coated with a plastic glue.
A tapestry like pattern may be produced with up to fifteen different colored yarns. The pattern construction is governed by magnetic tape and an electronic decoder device.
The construction technique has the following advantages:
- Less yarn is used
- Cost of manufacturing is less as compared to Axminster
- The equipment is less expensive
