Different types of cotton can be
cultivated only in warm regions, all around the world.
Climatic Conditions
The plant required about 180-200 days of continuous warm weather with
sufficient moisture and sunlight. The land must be thoroughly ploughed and
the soil be pulverized.
The plant is protected from being overcrowded by weeds, and a number of
methods are employed to achieve this. The weeding process can either be
mechanical or done by hand. Developed countries employ different high
technology machines and methods to produce the best quality cotton.
The raw cotton is made to pass various cleaning processes, before it is
baled and unbaled at the cotton mill. Various by products of cotton are used
in large number of industries besides textiles. Cotton yarns are often
combined or mixed with other yarns for making fabrics used in textiles and
home furnishings.
